Prayer of the Month

Raised in a Communist atheistic children's camp - Magdalena Ehrenreich, Germany

I was born in Yugoslavia. During Second World War, I was separated from my parents from two and a half years to twelve years of age, and was put into a Communist atheistic children's camp. There was nobody to speak to us about God, faith and religion. So I did not know God and faith was not part of my childhood; I grew up with a lot of doubts. At the age of twelve, I joined my family. Later I worked as nurse in a hospital in Germany for some time; during that period I did self study of Psychoanalysis. Then I worked in another hospital, teaching nurses. All through my life I was searching for the meaning of life, peace and love. A group of twenty five people, all Germans reached India on 29 December 2010 for a five-day retreat in German language. It was very deep for me. After confession I felt happy and free. During counseling I could look into myself with love and understanding. Forgiveness was not easy for me. But after experiencing God’s forgiveness for me, I prayed for gift of forgiveness. During the inner healing service the Lord touched me and by His grace and mercy I could forgive others. During the Holy Mass I felt peace. Physically I had been suffering from rheumatism glaucoma and had pain in my back and shoulders. I did not bring enough medicines for my glaucoma problem. When the priest announced that a person was healed of eye problem I claimed the healing message for me and Jesus healed me. Now my eyes are all right. At the end of the retreat Fr Joseph took us on a pilgrimage tour. My friend and I at first planned, when all others go back to Germany, to stay in a good hotel in Cochin. But after attending the retreat, inside me there was a call from the Lord to back to DRC. We came back to DRC to attend a five-day retreat in English. We feel happy that God filled us with His love and Holy Spirit. When we wanted to come back to DRC I was afraid whether the priests would allow us to stay. But Fr Babu allowed us to stay at DRC with a warm welcome we feel very grateful to him and all the DRC priests through whose kindness we experienced God’s marvelous love and healing. Praise the Lord.
