Prayer of the Month

God turns cancer scare to rejoicing - Rina Antony, Kochi

“As a father has compassion for his children, so the LORD has compassion for those who fear him” (Ps 103:13). My husband Antony and I serve at Divine Retreat Centre in the Ministry of Preaching and Counselling. Over the past four years I have slowed down in walking and had a breathing difficulty too. I did not take this seriously as I spent time sitting in prayer and counselling and had stopped my daily walk, growing older each day. When I consulted the doctor for another problem he insisted that I take an x-ray of my lungs which showed a patch in my lungs.  He straight away prescribed two antibiotics, a course of seven days and asked me to take an x-ray after that. He was suspecting Pneumonia or TB or Cancer. During this time I attended a healing service on Wednesday conducted by Fr Augustine Vallooran at Divine Retreat Centre. the priest said very clearly and forcefully that healing was a very important part of the Ministry of Jesus and whoever came to Jesus for healing, Jesus healed them. So with the Blessed Sacrament exposed, the priest led us to pray for healing and I especially prayed for the healing of my lungs. Then the priest called me by my Baptismal name – ‘Regina,’ saying the Lord was blessing me. I went back home and did another x-ray and it still showed the patch in my lungs. I was then advised an MRI Scan and while I was waiting for my turn and praying, a quiet voice in my heart asked me if I was willing to give my testimony at DRC. I said Yes Lord. I was prompted to pray that the patch would be just some dead cells or benign growth and not malignant or infectious. After the MRI the doctor reported saying that a part of the middle lobe of my right lung had collapsed, maybe due to past infection. But there was no other sign of illness of the lungs. The doctor was really surprised and glad that there was no other problem. On 13 June 2018 I was attending the healing adoration and thanking the Lord for the healing He granted me. The priest was asking us to pray for those with back problem, legs and knee problems. As we were praying I felt the passion of Christ in the Holy Eucharist like the rays of the fiery sun reaching out to me to heal me and for all whom we were praying for. I felt the Lord touching me and blessing me. So here I am now to give my testimony that Jesus heals and loves us personally calling us by name. All praise and thanks to God Almighty. “The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul that seeks him” (Lam 3:25).
